CREDENTIALS
In addition to practical spa theories, training and demonstrations, our workshops allot you every opportunity to learn and put into practice your new skills.
As you near completion, you will see that you have evolved from a student into a professional. You will have the ability to apply your knowledge to each service, using your critical thinking to effectively analyze your client in order to meet their individual needs.
Upon graduation, you'll receive your Diploma and qualify for B.C.'s Beauty Council certification as well as international certification by ITEC. This distinction enables our graduates to boast international certification in their chosen field. Your training at Kosmetae Academy can take you anywhere in the world!

STUDENT CLINIC
Hands-on experience is fundamental and integral to building your confidence and technique. All of your training occurs on campus in a state-of-the art facility, with the most current equipment including a full hair salon and spa treatment rooms for facials, waxing and makeup artistry. You are afforded every opportunity to develop your skills, perfect your techniques and to express your creativity. With the support of highly qualified instructors, you will be guided through the experience and excitement of providing the best possible client services, frequently with the reward of a tip!
PROGRAM SPECIFICS
Shampoo Techniques - This segment covers the importance of appropriate shampoo and conditioning treatments while mastering a memorable scalp massage. You will also gain important product knowledge, giving you every opportunity to meet your client’s needs.
Precision Cutting - Your client is looking to you to perform a transformation of current trends to their own unique style and image. You will acquire these skills, providing cutting edge haircuts, such as textured layer cuts, long layer cuts, under cuts, club cuts, asymmetrical cuts and avant grade haircuts.
Styling Techniques - Assisting your client to determine the best style for their face and the occasion is essential. Special attention is given for you to attain enviable skills in up-dos, bridal styling, cornrows, invisible braiding, rope braiding, extensions, curvature to soft curl perms and hair straightening. When gaining experience during student clinics, your instructor will assist you to develop your own unique style and talent.
Colour Technology - The ability to correctly mix colours for that perfect shade is fundamental to keeping your clients happy. During this segment, you will develop an eye for the nuances of colour while learning colour analysis, semi to demi colour, highlighting, toning, foiling, colour correction and trendy hair colour. You will also be able to apply those skills in creating your own take on current trends such as Ombre and Balage.
Texturizing - Chemical texture services are always evolving into new, exciting trends that clients of all ages can appreciate. This segment will give you an in depth understanding of chemical texture services such as keratin smoothing treatments and the hydroxide relaxer hair straightening system. You'll also receive thorough training on creating a perfect perm with basic perm wraps, curvature perm wraps, spiral perms, bricklay perms, as well as soft curl perms.
Facial Care - Providing a relaxing, memorable facial requires not only a caring touch, but knowledge as well. Clients will seek your expertise to provide them with the best possible service in which to meet the needs of their skin, whether by a European facial, acne treatment, epidermal peel, or by aromatherapy facials. Thorough training is given in every aspect, from the most basic elements of client consultation to the correct analysis of skin. Instructors are there to guide you as you deliver a facial, teaching you how and when to use magnifying lamps, black light lamps, vapozones, lucas, high frequency, the galvanic current, rotary brush and suction-spray attachments.
Makeup Artistry - Explore the many dimensions of makeup to enhance facial features, accentuating natural beauty for bridal application, black and white photography, colour photography, day to evening looks and fantasy makeup. Makeup artistry can bring out your own unique brand of creativity. Instructors provide advanced and detailed training on lash and brow tinting, face and bone structure analysis, skin composition, application techniques and suitable colour selection. In addition, learn the most state-of-the-art techniques and procedures when applying airbrush makeup to create an even, flawless look.
Hair Removal - Hair removal is a service that is always in demand. Therefore, it is imperative that you provide the best possible experience with little to no pain and discomfort. You will learn effective techniques for waxing the brow, upper lip, chin, underarm, leg, bikini, chest and back and for applying soothing pre and post treatments.
Theories - Knowledge is the key to a successful professional practice. You will attain this knowledge during theory lectures including sanitation and sterilization, chemistry, hair design principles, nutrition, skin histology, life skills and more. You will also obtain the necessary skills in which to successfully market yourself or to start your own business and appropriate procedures for client consultation and care. Guest speakers regularly attend our facility to expand your product knowledge and to provide you with a deeper understanding of industry standards, quality service and quality presentation.
