About the Course

Course Overview

In British Columbia, one requirement to work as an Early Childhood Educator Assistant in a licensed childcare facility is certification by the ECE Registry. Certification as an ECEA requires successful completion of coursework from a program recognized by the ECE Registry or successful completion of coursework that is deemed equivalent by the ECE Registry.

Kosmetae Academy does not currently have an Early Childhood Education program that is recognized by the ECE Registry. This means that students who complete this course must apply for certification through the ECE Registry's equivalency process, if they wish to use the course toward ECEA certification. Students are responsible for reviewing current ECE Registry requirements and application procedures.

Throughout the course, students engage in:

  • Theory instruction
  • Guided readings
  • Case-based learning
  • Reflective learning activities
  • Developmental observation activities
  • Applied assignments
  • Workplace scenarios
  • Authentic assessments aligned with early learning expectations

By the end of the course, students will be prepared to apply child development knowledge in early learning support contexts and may use completed coursework as part of an application to the ECE Registry through the equivalency process, subject to regulatory review.
